DESCRIPTION:WHAT:\nCamp Pathways: Miami County\nSummer camp for children and teens who are grieving the loss of a loved one. \nCamp Pathways is a unique experience designed to encourage children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment. Trained volunteers lead group sessions and activities. Some of the benefits of the camp are: \n\nAn opportunity to be with other kids and teens who also have experienced the death of a loved one.\nLots of fun\, age appropriate outdoor activities such as swimming\, games\, and arts and crafts.\nA memorial service that honors the memory of the loved one.\n\nWHEN:\nJune 15-17\, 2022\, 9 am-4 pm \nWHERE:\nLudlow Falls Camp\n2535 St. Rt. 48\, Ludlow Falls\, OH 45339 \nCOST:\n$15 for 1 camper\n$20 for 2 sibling campers\n$30 for 3 or more sibling campers \nFinancial aid is available and made possible by generous community support from the Ohio’s Hospice Foundation.\nIf your child/teen will need a ride to camp\, please call 937.573.2114 to inquire. \nREGISTRATION:\nTo ensure your space\, you must pre-register by calling 937.573.2114 or click the link below.\nPlease register by May 31\, 2022.\nRegister Online \n  \nINTERESTED IN BECOMING A CAMP VOLUNTEER?\nA camp volunteer is someone safe to talk\, play\, laugh and cry with during camp. To volunteer\, you must: \n\nBe 18 years of age or older.\nBe available and present on camp days from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.\nComplete an online application with two references (new volunteers only) and submit by April 29\, 2022.\nComplete an interview.\nComplete a background check and be fingerprinted.\nAttend one training/orientation session held at the Pathways of HopeSM Grief Counseling Center located at 3230 N. SUMMARY:Coping With Grief at the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:November marks the observance of Hospice and Palliative Care Month\, and Ohio’s Hospice affiliates are actively engaged in offering education about hospice and palliative care to other clinicians who care for those facing life-limiting illnesses. Continuing education credits are available for nurses and social workers on a variety of topics being presented by Ohio’s Hospice staff members. \nThis session’s topic is called “Coping With Grief at the Holidays\,” presented by Monica DuShane\, MSW\, LISW-S\, ACHP-SW\, Bereavement Counseling Professional. SUMMARY:Fallen Heroes: A Day of Honor and Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:Ohio’s Hospice will host a Veterans Memorial event on Wednesday\, May 31 to honor fallen heroes.\nVeterans\, their families and the community are invited to join in Fallen Heroes: A Day of Honor and Remembrance to celebrate the lives and service of Veterans throughout Ohio. Ceremonies will be held at the American Pride Veteran Memorial on the campus of Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton\, 324 Wilmington Avenue\, Dayton. The event begins at 11 am and will include a wreath presentation\, Honor Guard and reception to honor the fallen. \n“We are committed to caring for and honoring veterans as part of our mission and our American Pride program\,” explains President/CEO Kent Anderson. “We want to include the entire community in this effort by encouraging them to pay tribute and thank Veterans for their service and sacrifice.” \nThe American Pride Veteran Memorial is a moving commemoration that includes illustrated panels dedicated to American military campaigns ranging from the Revolutionary War to the War Against Terror. Each branch of the service is represented with a flag\, and the American flag flies proudly at the center of the display. The memorial also includes a computer kiosk that features pictures and stories about veterans. \nBy visiting www.ohioshospice.org/american-pride\, community members can enter their own stories or stories about loved ones\, and upload photos of Veterans\, honoring their lives and service. All stories submitted will be accessible online and on display at the American Pride Veteran Memorial. The stories are searchable by name.
