SUMMARY:Follow the Yellow Brick Road: The Heart\, the Brains\, the Courage in the Provision of Exceptional Palliative Care
DESCRIPTION:November marks the observance of Hospice and Palliative Care Month\, and Ohio’s Hospice affiliates are actively engaged in offering education about hospice and palliative care to other clinicians who care for those facing life-limiting illnesses. Continuing education credits are available for nurses and social workers on a variety of topics being presented by Ohio’s Hospice staff members. \nThis session’s topic is called “Follow the Yellow Brick Rd…the Heart\, the Brains\, the Courage in the Provision of Exceptional Palliative Care\,” presented by Jacqueline Matthews\, RN\, MS\, AOCN\, ACHPN\, CNS\, Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Vice President\, Innovative Care Solutions Palliative Care. As a result of this conference\, the learner will be able to: \n\nDifferentiate between palliative and hospice care\nIdentify patients appropriate for palliative care\nDiscuss pain management principles in chronic\, progressive illness\nDemonstrate effective communication strategies in patients with chronic\, progressive or serious illness\nDescribe concepts of total pain\nIdentify barriers to effective palliative care\n\nWhere: Ohio’s Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties\, 5940 Long Meadow Dr.\, Franklin\, OH 45005 \nWhen: November 9th @ 5:30 pm \nContact: Call 937.603.9922 or email kparziale@ohioshospice.org \nCEU Info: 1.0 Contact Hour will be awarded to the participant upon satisfactory completion of the activity.
