New Clinical Collaboration Announced to Strengthen Palliative Care

Premier Health and Ohio’s Hospice, comprised of Hospice of Dayton, Hospice of Miami County, Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties and Innovative Care Solutions* palliative services, have announced a clinical collaboration to enhance the availability and services of palliative care and hospice to patients in the Miami Valley.

Under the new agreement, Innovative Care Solutions will coordinate palliative care services for all Premier Health locations, assuring high standards and experienced providers in palliative care services to Premier Health consumers in need of specialized palliative care services.  The agreement enables the organizations to manage patients across a continuum of care to better ensure optimal patient outcomes and lower costs while maintaining high quality care standards.

Ohio’s Hospice, in collaboration with Premier Health, is also opening a hospice inpatient unit at Upper Valley Medical Center, managed by Hospice of Miami County. Ohio’s Hospice President/CEO Kent Anderson notes,  “This new hospice inpatient unit expands the continuum of hospice services available to Miami County residents.  It is part of this clinical collaboration, and reflects the shared values and mission of Premier Health and Ohio’s Hospice. Equally important, this enhances our shared commitment to improving accessibility and quality of care available to the patients and families we have the privilege of serving.”

“Providing palliative care and hospice services is a special responsibility that we embrace with deep compassion,” says Paula Thompson, president and CEO of Fidelity Health Care, Premier Health’s home health division. “Working collaboratively with Ohio’s Hospice strengthens the scope of the services which are centered on the individual, their family members and friends.  We consider it a privilege to work together to better serve those who are in need of these services.”
