Children’s Grief Camp Programs

Through our not-for-profit organization’s Pathways of Hope℠ program, we strive to offer support and guidance to children through education on grief and loss and normalizing emotions and experiences.

Camp Pathways

Camp Pathways is a camp for children and teens, ages 7-17, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or significant loved one. This camp is a unique experience designed to encourage children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment. Professional grief counselors and trained volunteers lead the activities.

Some of the many benefits of the camp are:

  • An opportunity to be with other kids and teens who have also experienced the death of a loved one.
  • Group support time that provides grief activities.
  • Lots of fun, age appropriate outdoor activities such as: swimming, climbing wall, ropes course, and arts and crafts.
  • A memorial service that honors the memory of the loved one.

Camp is held at Camp Joy Outdoor Education Center located at 10117 Old 3C Hwy., Clarksville, OH 45113.

For more information about Camp Pathways and upcoming camp dates, please call 937.258.4991.

Camp Pathways: Camp In A Box

Camp Pathways: Camp In A Box is an innovative box version of the in-person camp. The camp boxes allow Ohio’s Hospice to provide grief support services to children of all ages year round through the generous support of our community.

For more information about Camp Pathways: Camp In A Box, please call 740.788.1474.

Camp Waves of Emotion

Camp Waves of Emotion is for children, ages 7-12, who have lost a loved one and may have difficulty articulating their fears of abandonment, separation, loneliness or emotional pain. Children are still developing the skills to cope with loss and need support. It is important for children to gather together and express their feelings, have their questions answered, and talk about loss as a normal aspect of life.

During the camp, a bereavement counseling professional and trained staff will utilize art, music, play and grief curriculum to assist children in identifying their unspoken feelings.

Camp is held at Ohio’s Hospice | Wooster located at 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

For more information about Camp Waves of Emotion and upcoming camp dates, please call 330.264.4899.

Camp activities include swimming, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, hay rides, face painting, music therapy, lawn and water games, arts and crafts, and a memorial program.

Camp is held at Wanake Camp & Retreat Center located at 9463 Manchester Ave. SW, Beach City, OH 44608.
