Children’s Grief Camp Programs
Through our not-for-profit organization’s Pathways of Hope℠ program, and thanks to generous community support, we are able to offer several grief camps throughout the state of Ohio at no cost to those participating.
Camp Pathways
Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton hosts Camp Pathways, a grief camp for children and teens, ages 7-17, who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
During the camp, a bereavement counseling professional and trained staff will utilize art, music, play and grief curriculum to assist children in identifying their unspoken feelings and learn how to manage their grief.
For more information about Camp Pathways, please call 937.258.4991.
Camp Pathways: Miami County
Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County hosts Camp Pathways: Miami County, a grief camp for children and teens, grades K-12, who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
The camp is designed to encourage children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment. Trained staff and volunteers will lead the activities under the direction of bereavement counseling professionals. In addition to learning how to cope with and heal from loss, the children and teens will enjoy fun, age-appropriate activities such as swimming, games, and arts and crafts.

Camp HOCO
Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio hosts Camp HOCO, a grief camp for children, ages 6-12, who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
During the camp, a bereavement counseling professional and trained staff will utilize art, music, play and grief curriculum to assist children in identifying their unspoken feelings and learn how to manage their grief.
Camp activities may include arts and crafts, making and flying kites, decorating memory stones, small group grief activities, music, and drumming.
Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio also offers Camp HOCO at Home, an innovative box version of the in-person camp. The Camp HOCO at Home boxes allow Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio to provide grief support services to children throughout the year through the generous support of an anonymous donor.
Camp HOCO strives to offer support and guidance to children through education on grief and loss and normalizing emotions and experiences. During the in-person Camp HOCO, we offer small group time for the children to share their story and listen to others, so they know they are not alone while reviewing healthy coping skills and learning who to reach out to for help.
