Extending Superior Care Throughout Every Journey

Ohio’s Hospice recognizes the vital role our Innovative Care Solutions (ICS) Mobile Care Units play in extending hospice care beyond traditional boundaries. These specialized transport teams ensure that distance, mobility, or medical complexity never prevent patients from receiving the compassionate care they deserve.

Medical Transporters Day

“Our Mobile Care Units are an essential extension of our hospice care teams,” said an Ohio’s Hospice spokesperson. “They make it possible for patients to access superior care and superior services when it matters most, whether that’s reaching specialized care facilities or being present for life’s meaningful moments.”

What distinguishes our Mobile Care Units is their integration with hospice care philosophy. Staffed by paramedics and EMTs with specialized hospice training, these teams understand that comfort, dignity, and quality of life must be maintained throughout every journey.

Every day, our Mobile Care Unit teams make a difference by:

  • Facilitating access to specialized symptom management at our Hospice Houses.
  • Enabling seamless transitions between care settings.
  • Supporting families during critical moments.
  • Ensuring comfort measures continue during transport.
  • Making it possible for patients to participate in celebrations and gatherings.

From helping a patient attend one last football game to ensuring a father could witness his daughter’s wedding, our teams help make meaningful moments possible.

Operating 365 days a year, our Mobile Care Units have become a cornerstone of comprehensive hospice services. The recent expansion to northern and central Ohio means more families can access this vital service, ensuring that geography doesn’t limit care options.

“Every transport is an opportunity to extend the same compassionate care our patients receive at home,” explained the spokesperson. “Our teams are trained to see beyond the medical aspects to honor each person’s unique needs and wishes.”

As part of the Ohio’s Hospice family and Innovative Care Solutions, we’ve created a model for patient-centered medical transport that prioritizes comfort and continuity of care.

The impact extends far beyond the physical journey. Whether it’s facilitating a memorable family cruise or helping a patient fulfill their wish of riding a horse again, our Mobile Care teams consistently demonstrate how transport can be transformed into opportunities for connection and joy.

We honor our ICS Mobile Care Unit teams for their dedication to extending superior care wherever and whenever it’s needed. Their commitment ensures that every patient’s journey – whether to receive specialized care or to create lasting memories – maintains the dignity and comfort that defines hospice care.
