Community Gathers to Honor Loved Ones at New Philadelphia Butterfly Release
Seventy-five community members came together at the Dr. Leslie Harrold Community Campus on August 10, 2025, for the Ohio’s Hospice Celebrating Life’s Stories® Butterfly Release, creating a moving tribute that raised $3,500 to support patient care services.

The peaceful afternoon provided attendees with an opportunity to honor and remember their loved ones as butterflies were released into the summer sky, each one representing a cherished memory and a life that made a difference.
“This butterfly release allows our community to come together in remembrance while supporting our mission to celebrate the lives of those we have the privilege of serving,” said our spokesperson. “The funds raised ensure we can continue providing superior care and services to each patient and family, regardless of their ability to pay.”
The event was organized by committee members Emily Duggan, Mona Sayre and Kelsie Gunnoe, whose dedication helped create a meaningful experience for all who attended.
Local sponsors demonstrated their commitment to supporting end-of-life care in the community: Dr. Lindsey Moore, Pulp Juice & Smoothie Bar, Robin McCoy, and Lightning Signs & Decals.
All proceeds from the butterfly release will directly support patient care at Ohio’s Hospice, helping ensure that compassionate, comprehensive hospice services remain available to everyone in the community who needs them.
Thanks to generous community support from the New Philadelphia community, Ohio’s Hospice plans to host this meaningful remembrance event again in the future, with dates to be announced.
