Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare visited 17 area extended care and assisted living facilities in Wayne, Ashland, Holmes and Medina counties, as well as Wayne County Fairgrounds, in November, pinning and honoring 300 Veterans as part of its Veterans Day celebration. 

“At Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, we honor and recognize our Veteran patients,” said Kurt Holmes, executive director of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare. “While not all of the 300 Veterans honored were our patients, we believe it is important to honor Veterans in the communities we serve. We’re grateful to have partnered with several extended care and assisted living facilities throughout the area as part of our commitment to Veteran care.”

Each ceremony began with a musician who played patriotic music on the piano. In some locations, the Veterans joined in and sang. The ceremonies included the reciting of the creeds of the various branches of the military, a military prayer, a formal salute, and the naming and pinning of each Veteran along with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation. 

Volunteer Veterans from Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare recited the creeds and presented the pins and certificates. At the end of the ceremony, participants joined the musician in singing, “God Bless America.”
