One Hour, Lasting Impact: Dayton Community Raises More Than $90,000 for Ohio’s Hospice
Ohio’s Hospice celebrated a successful Hour of Impact Luncheon on May 9, 2025, at the Sinclair Ponitz Center, raising $91,301 to support patient care and the organization’s mission of Celebrating Life’s Stories® throughout the Dayton community.

The event brought together more than 200 community members, supporters and healthcare professionals to learn about Ohio’s Hospice’s superior care and superior services and the profound impact these services have on patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Channel 2 Meteorologist Jamie Jarosik served as event master of ceremonies, guiding attendees through an inspiring program that highlighted the meaningful work of Ohio’s Hospice. The event featured a moving presentation from Ohio’s Hospice Nursing Honor Guard, which honors patients who were nurses who are in our care, recognizing their dedication to the nursing profession.
Keynote speaker Kim Vesey shared powerful insights about the importance of hospice care in the community, while Ohio’s Hospice Board Member Don Fodor delivered a compelling Call to Action, encouraging continued support for the organization’s mission.

The $91,301 raised during the luncheon will be allocated to continuing Ohio’s Hospice’s patient care and bereavement services in the Dayton region. These funds support the organization’s commitment to providing superior care and superior services to patients and families, regardless of their ability to pay.
As a not-for-profit, community-based organization, Ohio’s Hospice relies on community support to enhance patient care, expand services and ensure that no one faces end-of-life challenges alone.
The successful event was made possible through the dedication of numerous volunteers and the generous support of community sponsors. Event volunteers provided registration and ushering services, including Mona Sayre, Becky Schock, Stacy Gellar, Adrianne Veatch, Andrea Kowaleski, Debbie Goldberg, Cyndy Pellegrino, Brandon Bragg, Dodie Munn, Barb Blauman, and Kayla Kolakowski.

Based on the positive feedback received, Ohio’s Hospice plans to continue the Hour of Impact Luncheon as an annual event. Planning for next year’s event will begin soon, with details to be announced at a later date.
