PNC Grant Provides Veterans Virtual Reality Goggles

Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the PNC Foundation, Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton has acquired 12 virtual reality goggles. These PNC-funded goggles will offer Veterans a virtual trip to the National Mall in Washington D.C., and the opportunity to virtually tour memorials and benefit from the nation’s expression of gratitude for their service. This type of virtual visit can provide closure, ease emotional pain, and fulfill long-standing dreams for our patients facing the end of life.

American Pride®, Veteran Care by Ohio’s Hospice, honors the service of Veterans and assures them of receiving the highest quality of care. In addition to celebrating and thanking Veterans for their service, American Pride assists patients in obtaining benefits to which they are entitled. The American Pride program has been instrumental in enabling several of our hospice patients to participate in Honor Flight visits to Washington D.C.

PNC Foundation’s funding of the virtual reality goggles and the American Pride Program is part of PNC’s Military Employee Business Resource Group initiative, which is committed to supporting Veterans and their families throughout the community. We are so grateful for PNC Foundation’s support of our Veterans, and for helping us provide programs that recognize and honor the sacrifices our patients have made for our country. The potential benefits of virtual reality goggles to our patients are great, and they are another step in our way of providing superior care and superior service to those we serve through innovation and technology.
