Ohio's Hospice Mobile Care Unit

Support for Our Transportation Services Improves Quality of Life for Patients and Families

This year, we hope to connect the dots from where our families are to where they need to be through transportation. Reliable and far-reaching transportation for our patients through Ohio’s Hospice equates to speed of care, which is a priority to those facing end of life.

It is because of the generosity of our community members that we can continue to provide superior care and superior services to our patients and families. However, during the past few years, healthcare has faced many challenges. One of those challenges is transportation. This is a barrier that can delay much needed care when it matters most.

We have relied on independent ambulette and mobile care service providers to transport our patients from the hospital to one of our hospice inpatient care centers, from the inpatient care center to a patient’s home, and from a patient’s home to a nursing facility.

In 2022, we were not able to assist as many of our patients who needed travel assistance because we relied on the availability and staffing of outside transportation companies.

But for those areas of our organization that have a mobile care unit, we saw firsthand how it made a difference in the quality of life for our patients.

As we continue to grow and serve more counties and patients across the state, we must be the ones to go the extra mile with our own transportation services to best serve our patients.

With your help, we seek to purchase and operate a vehicle equipped with everything a patient may need for comfort, safety and ease during transport. Innovative Care Solutions, a part of Ohio’s Hospice, will hire and train staff, specifically for the purpose of providing much needed patient transport services to hospice and palliative care patients.

Please help us go the extra mile to improve the quality of life for our patients and speed to care for those we are privileged to serve.
