Dayton Butterfly Release Brings Community Together

Ohio’s Hospice held one of its biggest annual events Aug. 8 as 381 people memorialized their loved ones with the release of 586 butterflies. Held at Ohio’s Hospice Dayton, the Celebrating Life’s Stories® Butterfly Release brought the community together to honor and remember loved ones while sharing a moment of peace, hope, and connection.

Butterfly Release Dayton

“As each butterfly took flight, it symbolized the love and cherished memories we carry with us,” an Ohio’s Hospice spokesperson said. “This meaningful event also served as a fundraiser benefiting Ohio’s Hospice, and we are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make it a success.”

A total of $25,591 was raised and funds from this event will go directly toward helping Ohio’s Hospice provide superior care and superior services to anyone in the community facing end of life.

A beautiful backdrop of meaningful music was provided by harpist Stephanie Llacuna while Ohio’s Hospice Chaplain Maureen Clark provided a reflection.

Our event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Modern Technology Solutions, Inc., David’s Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, Exhibit Concepts, Progressive Printers, In Loving Memory of Jon & Linda Poelking, Applied Mechanical Systems, Inc., Hylant and Conroy Funeral Home.

Ohio’s Hospice plans to continue this cherished community tradition with another Butterfly Release in 2027, with the date to be announced.
