National Volunteer Week

Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton Honors Volunteers During National Volunteer Week

Volunteers at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton make an impact on the lives of patients, their families, and the staff every day. During National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton took a moment to recognize its volunteers. In 2019, 815 volunteers made more than 3,600 patient visits.

“Our volunteers help to bring a smile, respite, and comfort to both our patients and families,” said Maureen Swarts, manager of volunteer services, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. “Whether the volunteer has made a comfort item or visits with the patients on a regular basis, they are making a difference.”

From data entry and filing to visiting patients, the volunteers at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton help every area of the organization.

“Our volunteers are very appreciated. I know this is apparent to our volunteer services staff,” Swarts said. “I’m sure the rest of the organization realizes the importance of our volunteers who help throughout the organization.”

In past years, Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton has honored volunteers with a recognition banquet. Because of COVID-19, the annual volunteer recognition banquet has been postponed and will be rescheduled for later this year.
