Ohio’s Hospice Celebrates Fourth Quarter of 2025 Bouquet of Recognition Honorees
Ohio’s Hospice staff members are dedicated to providing superior care and superior service to each patient and family.
Many times they go above and beyond, and those staff members are recognized with the Bouquet of Recognition Awards for Excellence. Honorees personify the qualities found in the mission and values of Ohio’s Hospice and are the foundation upon which remarkable patient experiences are built.
These honorees consistently demonstrate excellence through their expertise and extraordinary care of patients and families. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the Ohio’s Hospice community. These are the recipients for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Carnation Award – Brittani Pratt
Brittani Pratt, an informatics specialist on the Care Technology Team in our South Care Region, was recognized with the Carnation Award for how she goes about her daily work.;
In nominating Brittani, teammate Jessica Brown cited her ability to find problems within the EHR system and how her work supports teammates that use EHRs on a daily basis.
“She is incredibly smart, detailed, and hard-working, though much of what she does is only seen in detail by her team,” Jessica wrote. “She quickly identifies issues in the EHRs, and much of the time, she identifies the issues before Netsmart even does. In fact, Netsmart developers and engineers have – many times – specifically asked her to test software updates before they are published or review their development plans and provide feedback. This is because she is incredibly thorough, thinks critically through a multitude of clinical scenarios, and provides detailed information in a way that is actionable and understandable.”
Jessica added that when a vendor is asking for expertise and opinions, that’s “above and beyond.”
“Her most powerful quality, though, is her advocacy for all Ohio’s Hospice teammates,” Jessica wrote. “She understands the impact of any technology issues with our EHRs and strongly advocates with Netsmart for solutions. Brittani highlights safety issues and difficult workflows and pushes vendors to find better solutions. Sometimes vendors reply – in essence – ‘that’s just the way it is,’ but she does not accept that as an answer if it impacts patients or our teams.”
Congratulations to Brittani on being recognized with the Carnation Award and thanks to her for her support of the Ohio’s Hospice mission.

DAISY Award® – Brookdeann Rose
Ohio’s Hospice is proud to be a DAISY Award® partner, recognizing nurses with this special honor quarterly. The international program rewards and celebrates the extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day.

Alyssia McDowell, in nominating Brookdeeann, wrote that during her mother-in-law’s final days, Brookdeeann went “above and beyond to provide not only outstanding medical care but also deep emotional support to our entire family.”
“One especially meaningful act stands out: Brook took the initiative to secure a fetal heart doppler monitor from the adjacent OB department so that we could record my mother-in-law’s heartbeats as a lasting memory,” Alyssia wrote. “This thoughtful gesture created a precious keepsake for our family — a gift that we will cherish forever.”
Alyssia added that throughout her family’s time in hospice care, Brook demonstrated unwavering kindness, empathy and attentiveness, exemplifying the true spirit of hospice care.
Congratulations to Brookdeann on being recognized with the DAISY Award and thanks to her for her support of the Ohio’s Hospice mission.

Sunflower Award – Mitsy Cassell
Mitsy Cassell, personal care specialist in our North Care Region, was recognized with the Sunflower Award for going out of her way to help her teammates in every way possible.
“Mitsy will pick up extra shifts, come in early, and stay late to help her fellow teammates out and to make sure our patients get the care they deserve,” a staff member wrote in her nomination. “I have seen Mitsy overcome many obstacles over the past 10 years. I have had the pleasure of being able to work with her.”
The nominator said Mitsy has gone through several different Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, COVID, and emerged all with a smile on her face while ensuring the patients still received the very best care.
“Mitsy puts her heart and soul into her work, and it does not go unnoticed,” the staff member wrote.
Congratulations to Mitsy on being recognized with the Sunflower Award and thanks to her for her support of the Ohio’s Hospice mission.

Jody Holstein, a medical social worker in our Central Care Region, was recognized with the Tulip Award for her exceptional compassion, dedication and care during a patient’s final days at Ohio’s Hospice.
In nominating Jody, Alyssia McDowell cited her for going “above and beyond” to provide support for Alyssia’s mother-in-law and her entire family.
“Her attentiveness, empathy, and professionalism were truly remarkable,” Alyssia wrote. “She took the time to ensure that we were informed, comforted and cared for every step of the way. One of the many meaningful gestures Jody provided was capturing our loved one’s fingerprints for the family — a keepsake we will always treasure. She also introduced us to the idea of a comfort square, which became a touching and symbolic way for us to stay connected even after my mother-in-law’s passing.”
Jody also offered children’s books on grief, helping the youngest members of the family begin to process what was happening in an age-appropriate way.
“She deserves recognition for the profound impact she made on our family’s experience and for the exceptional care she continues to provide to others,” Alyssia wrote.
Congratulations to Jody on being recognized with the Tulip Award and thanks to her for her support of the Ohio’s Hospice mission.
