Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare is hosting an online video conference, “Living Loss, Symbolic Loss & Community Tragedies,” on Monday, May 4, at 5 pm.
Led by David Hargrave, LSW, CTP, bereavement counseling professional with Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, the video conference will provide participants with a better understanding of the way living loss and community tragedies impact them. Hargrave will discuss positive coping strategies during the video conference. He also will discuss the work of Dr. Don Eisenhauer, MCC, an expert in bereavement.
“A living loss is the presence of recurring or ongoing feelings of grief without a death. With living losses, few people are likely to visit with hugs, support, food, etc.,” Hargrave said. “After natural disasters, including tornadoes or floods, community tragedies such as 9/11, and pandemics, people, families and friends often experience living loss, which is rarely acknowledged.”
While the event is free and open to the public, registration is required. To register, call the front desk at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare at 330.264.4899. Those who register will receive an email with a link to the online video conference.
In addition, if anyone in the community has experienced the death of a loved one and needs grief support services, Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare is still available to take their calls. Those who are grieving should call Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare at 330.264.4899 to schedule an appointment.
