Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton Celebrates Volunteers With Return of Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet
Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton recently honored its volunteers for their service with the return of its annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet at Mandalay Banquet Center in Dayton, as part of National Volunteer Month.
“Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton is blessed to have dedicated volunteers who believe in our mission and support our patients and families,” said Maureen Swarts, manager of volunteer services at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. “Our volunteers serve our patients in so many ways, from being a friendly visitor and providing comfort items to honoring Veteran patients for their service and providing certified pets for comfort.”
This year’s Volunteer Recognition Banquet was the first in-person volunteer event since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton recognized years of service milestones for 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service.
“This year, one word came to mind to celebrate our volunteers: celebrate,” Swarts said. “We wanted to celebrate those who give their time, talents and hearts and do not look for anything in return. Our volunteers always tell us they receive more than they give, and we’re happy to celebrate their service.”
