New Location, Increased Attendance Highlight Butterfly Release in Newark

Ohio’s Hospice held its biggest butterfly release in Newark July 18 as nearly 200 people memorialized their loved ones with the release of 300 butterflies.

Thank you for attending the Ohio's Hospice Butterfly Release in Newark

Newark Maennerchor, a local German club, hosted the annual event for the first time and nearly $22,753 was raised.

“They so graciously donated the space to us,” a hospice spokesperson said. “It was so beautiful, it provided seating in the shade and just seemed to bring the people closer together due to how the seating was set up. We received nothing but compliments on how much people enjoyed the change to the beautiful Newark Maennerchor.”

Proceeds from the event help provide for the quality-of-life needs for our patients and important bereavement support to their families. The proceeds and other community donations also help to ensure that care is provided to any eligible patient, regardless of insurance coverage or their ability to pay.

Well-known Newark harpist Olivia Claggett provided a beautiful backdrop of meaningful music during the event.
